The Center for Wisdom and Compassion is happy to announce the Summer Retreat for 2020 led by Stephan Pende on the beautiful island of Møn (easily accessible from Copenhagen).

Fundamental Well-being 

“Dwelling deep within our heart, and within the hearts of all beings without exception, is an inexhaustible source of love and wisdom. You will be introduced to simple methods from the Tibetan Tradition to be more at ease with your feelings and disturbing thoughts. We are exploring ways to be more relaxed and at ease with the challenges of your inner life and your body.

The retreat is suitable for beginners of any background who want to start their journey with profound and easy to apply techniques and experienced students who want to deepen their practice.

The journey will be a balanced mixture of guided meditations, mindful yoga, walking meditation, short lectures, discussions, and silence.

You will learn time-honored ways of experiencing and resting right now in your natural state of inner peace, the ultimate source of lasting happiness.

All teachings are in English.

Silence

Most of the retreat will be in silence, there will be opportunities to ask questions during the sessions. We also encourage everyone to keep their mobile phones turned off during the entire retreat.

Yoga

Although not mandatory, we offer two sessions per day of very gently Hatha Yoga suitable for beginners and all ages.

The focus will be on stretches, breathing, alignment, flow and the softness, joy, and lightness in the body. As our bodies become flexible, open and strong, so does our mind. We’re able to contain whatever life throws at us – with more strength, sensitivity, and compassion.

We’ll work with our nervous system and learn simple relaxation techniques that we can use whenever we feel caught up in anxiety, stress, negative emotion or confusion. Through a gentle asana flow (postures) we’ll learn how to connect to a state of clarity, grounding, and comfort.

About Stephan Pende Wormland:

Born 1965 in Germany, MA in clinical psychology and trained in Gestalt therapy. He has studied and practiced meditation in multiple Buddhist traditions for 40 years and has spent all together five years in meditation retreats. He is a student of Lama Zopa Rinpoche and was a monk in the Tibetan tradition for 11 years.

About our Yoga Instructor Sille 

Sille has been studying Tibetan Buddhism for over 15 years and she completed her yoga teacher training in 2011 in India. Sille has a master’s degree in psychology and is currently studying to become a psychotherapist – focusing on the bridge between western and eastern psychology. She has shared yoga with a wide range of students.

Requirements – Self-Responsibility 

Participating in retreats can be challenging. Participants are asked to be firmly grounded and have the ability to take personal responsibility.

One should have a fairly stable mental balance and participants attending should be able to take personal responsibility for their own experiences.

The retreat is not designed as a substitute for psychotherapeutic work. It is the responsibility of each participant to judge for themselves their suitability to participate.

If you are seeing a psychotherapist, psychiatrist or another mental health professional, we ask that you speak with them about your intentions to join a retreat.

What’s included in the fee:

  • All sessions (meditation and yoga)
  • Accommodation in the retreat center
  • 3 Light and simple vegetarian meals per day (bring extra / what you need to cater to your special dietary needs)

What’s not included in the retreat fee: 

  • Transport (the retreat center is approx. 1 hour from Copenhagen by car)
  • a donation for the teacher

* Although the fee is non-refundable, in case of unforeseen circumstances you can give/sell your spot to a person of your choosing.

** In the event that the Center has to cancel any arrangements, all participants are issued a full refund.
