SUMMARY:Summer Meditation Retreat Near Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:Learn time-honored ways for experiencing and resting right now in your natural state of inner peace\, the ultimate source of lasting happiness. Unwind and recharge at this spacious and healing meditation retreat north of Stockholm\, set in beautiful natural surroundings close to a big river. \n\n\n\n\nDwelling deep within our heart\, and within the hearts of all beings without exception\, is an inexhaustible source of love and wisdom. And the ultimate purpose of all spiritual practices\, whether they are called Buddhist or not\, is to uncover and make contact with this essentially pure nature. \n– Lama Yeshe\n\n\n\nThe retreat is suitable for beginners of any background who want to start their journey with profound and easy to apply techniques. Experienced students will also benefit from guidance for deepening their practice. There will be a balanced mixture of guided meditations\, walking meditation\, short lectures\, discussions\, silence and mindful movements. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE TEACHINGS\n\n\n\nTibetan Masters have for centuries developed a time-tested\, logical\, sequential and practical road map to help guide spiritual seekers on the path\, from suffering to liberation. This unique teaching came to be called Lam-Rim\, or gradual Path to Enlightenment\, and has been transmitted by Tibetan Masters like His Holiness the Dalai Lama into our modern times. \n\n\n\nAll teachings are in English. During the retreat we will explore in depth different aspects of these teachings and meditations\, which are remarkably relevant for our daily life and relationships. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE TEACHER\n\n\n\nStephan Wormland\, born 1965 in Germany\, has studied and practiced meditation in multiple traditions for over 30 years. He has a master’s degree in clinical psychology\, trained in Gestalt therapy and worked for 6 years in a psychiatric hospital. \n\n\n\nHe lived as an ordained monk in the Tibetan tradition for 11 years and\, during that time\, served as the director of Nalanda Monastery in the south of France and spent a total of 5 years in group and solitary retreats. The main teacher of Stephan is Lama Zopa Rinpoche\, the spiritual director of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT). \n\n\n\nHe has received teachings and guidance from great Tibetan Masters of the four schools like His Holiness the Dalai Lama\, Sakya Trizin Rinpoche\, Sogyal Rinpoche\, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche\, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche\, Kirti Thenshap Rinpoche\, Chogye Trichen Rinpoche\, and Choden Rinpoche. He has practiced and studied with foremost Western teachers like Peter Fenner\, Alan Wallace\, Rob Preece\, Alex Berzin\, Pema Chodron\, Robert Thurman\, and Ken McLeod. \n\n\n\nFor many years\, Stephan has been the resident teacher of the Center for Visdom og Medfølelse in Copenhagen and he currently teaches meditation in Buddhist Centers around Europe. Since 2009 he has been studying Radiant Mind with Peter Fenner and completed the Nondual Teacher Training and he is a program adviser of the Potential Project. \n\n\n\nPLEASE NOTE: This retreat takes place in Dharmaghiri retreat center\, Sala (see directions below) \n\n\n\nSUMMER MEDITATION RETREAT STOCKHOLM SCHEDULE\n\n\n\nFriday (arrival day)16:00  – Arriving and settling in19:00 – 20.00 Dinner20:00 – 21.00 Introduction and short practice \n\n\n\nSaturday\, Sunday\, and Thursday07:00 – 07.30 Meditation07.30 – 08.00 Break (preparing breakfast)08.00 – 09.00 Breakfast09.00 – 11.00 Meditation and walking meditation11.00 – 11.30 Break11.30 – 13.00 Mindful movement – Group 113.00 – 15.00 Lunch and lunch break15.00 – 17.00 Meditation and walking meditation17.00 – 17.30 Break17:30 – 19:00 Mindful movement – Group 219.00 – 20:00 Dinner20.00 – 21.00 Prajna paramita Practice \n\n\n\nMonday\, Tuesday\, Wednesday (Precepts) 06:30 – 07.00 Precepts07:00 – 08:00 Break08.00 – 10.00 Meditation and walking meditation10.00 – 10.30 Break (preparing lunch)10.30 – 11.30 Mindful movement – Group 211.30 – 15.00 Lunch and lunch break15.00 – 17.00 Meditation and walking meditation17.00 – 17:30 Break17:30 – 18:30 Mindful movement – Group 118:30 – 20.00 Break20:00 – 21.00 Prajna paramita practice \n\n\n\nFriday (departure day)07:00 – 07.30 Meditation07.30 – 08.00 Break (preparing breakfast)08.00 – 09.00 Breakfast09.00 – 11.00 Meditation and walking meditation12.30 – 13.30 Lunch and lunch break \n\n\n\n13:30-14:30 Cleaning the rooms and premises \n\n\n\nMAHAYANA PRECEPTS\n\n\n\nFor three days during the retreat we will be taking the Mahayana Precepts (see this document) to increase the depth of the practice. Do you need special diets or are allergic to something? Are you vegan? Do you snore? (So we can take that into account when we make room placement…) \n\n\n\nHOW TO GET TO DHARMAGIRI\n\n\n\nRetreat Center By car From Stockholm it takes about 2-2.5 hours by car. Click this link for Google maps directions. Take road E18 to Enköping\, before entering Enköping\, take road 70 toward Sala. At the first roundabout at the entrance to Sala\, go straight. At the second roundabout\, follow signs to Saladamm (over the railroad tracks). After Saladamm it is straight ahead. About 27 km from Sala turn right at the sign for Bännbäck. Drive straight for approximately 3 km. Just after the sign V. Bännbäck look for houses to the right on a little hill.  There is a mailbox with a wagon wheel opposite the entrance. \n\n\n\nBy train or bus There are trains to Sala from\, for example\, Stockholm and Arlanda. It is also good to come from the south via Västeras. Search train times at www.sj.se. Train Stockholm – Sala costs approx 110-125 SEK single ticket\, 2nd class\, non-refundable. From Arlanda tickets are more expensive\, there is a surcharge for stepping on / off. If you cannot arrange to be picked up at the train in Sala you can take the bus to Möklinta. From there also needed pick-up by car\, but it’s closer Dharmagiri and may be easier to arrange a ride from there. Times for bus 63 Sala Travel Centre – Möklinta found on www.vl.se. \n\n\n\nTESTIMONIALS FROM PREVIOUS MEDITATION RETREAT STOCKHOLM PARTICIPANTS:\n\n\n\n\nDuring a most difficult period in life it has been of great value to put it all on pause and walk more clear on the path of practicing for a while. To sit with whatever it is. And doing it together with others under the leading of a great teacher can be most healing. \n– Inger W-Forss\n\n\n\n\n“Novelty is having new experiences of ourselves in the world”. I knew beach holidays\, I knew hiking trips. I knew dining and clubbing in cities\, I knew dinner parties and long conversations\, but I didn’t know I could be silent and digital free for a week and feel absolutely relaxed and inspired. \n– Gu Jian\n\n\n\n\nI regained faith in essence-love through being with/in it. I found new ways of vitalizing my practice through movement. \n– Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nGreat teacher\, great place\, warm and safe atmosphere. Worth to do at least once a year. \n– Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nIt’s very hard to write a short testimonial about a profound\, personal experience. What I can say is that giving yourself time\, in silence\, with others\, under the guidance of an experienced teacher is an investment in your wellbeing and therefore for others. It is really a unique gift. \n– Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nA life saving experience! I found something I didn’t know I ́d lost! \n– Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nA silent week in beautiful nature with meditation\, yoga\, long walks\, good food and swimming\, what more do you need? \n– Anonymous

Awaken bodhichitta in daily life and deepen your experience of emptiness by learning practical tools and meditations. Whether you are a beginner or experienced practitioner\, these Bodhisattva teachings will support your journey. \n\n\n\nIn these teachings we explore The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva. Relating to traditional Buddhist practices and texts authentically can be challenging for us in the West. Although these texts are incredibly powerful\, it difficult to move beyond intellectual understanding and perfunctory repetition\, considering their cultural context. Its inspiring verses convey the entire Mahayana path of compassion. Additionally\, it describes the practices and attitudes of the awakening rebel who wants to heal\, grow up\, and wake up for the benefit of all. We will work towards allowing this wisdom to touch our hearts and transform our lives. \n\n\n\nSchedule: Sat\, Aug 26 and Sun\, Aug 27\, at 10-11:30 am (PT) \n\n\n\nStephan Pende Wormland\, MA in clinical psychology\, is trained in Gestalt therapy. SUMMARY:Meditations- und Achtsamkeitsseminar mit Stephan Pende
\n\n\n\nVORTRAGFr 01. September 202319 – 21 Uhr \n\n\n\nSEMINARESa 02. September 202310 – 18 Uhr (Pause 13.30 – 15 Uhr)So 03. SUMMARY:Leiden verwandeln\, Glück schenken

SUMMARY:Weekend Retreat with Stephan Pende
DESCRIPTION:I have been undergoing a transformational period and searching to deepen my practice. Unfortunately\, I must cancel this retreat. However\, this transitional process will enrich future teachings. \n\n\n\nJoin our long-awaited weekend retreat with Stephan Pende\, online or in person (Stockholm)! \n\n\n\nOn this weekend retreat\, we will explore the death process\, how to prepare for our death and how to support others on their journey. \n\n\n\nIt is difficult to accept the inevitability of our own deaths or the deaths of our loved ones. And although avoiding death is not possible\, it is possible to prepare for death and equip ourselves with tools to help those around us engage with their own deaths in the most beneficial way. \n\n\n\nHis Holiness the Dalai Lama says in ”Book of joy”: \n\n\n\n”The true measure of spiritual development is how one confronts one’s own mortality. The best way is when one is able to approach death with joy; next best way is without fear; third best way is at least not to have regrets.” \n\n\n\nStephan Pende will help us uncover our fears and ideas about death and impermanence and through teachings\, discussions\, and guided meditations we will explore how to live the life to die well. \n\n\n\nTEACHER \n\n\n\nStephan Pende is originally from Germany\, he has MA in clinical psychology and trained in Gestalt therapy. Stephan has studied and practiced meditation in multiple Buddhist traditions for over 30 years and has spent all together five years in meditation retreats. He was a monk in the Tibetan tradition for 11 years\, and teaches meditation in Buddhist centers in Europe. \n\n\n\nPRACTICAL INFORMATION AND HOW TO REGISTER \n\n\n\nLanguage: EnglishLocation: In person or online via Zoom. SUMMARY:How to See Yourself as You Really Are
DESCRIPTION:In his book How to See Yourself as You Really Are\, the Dalai Lama shares step-by-step personal advice for learning to see the world and ourselves as we actually exist\, without the overlay of false imagination. In words that are warm and clear\, the Dalai Lama shows his own personal path toward understanding: key ideas for reflection and essential phrases from Buddhist masters that hit him like a lightning bolt with the force of their meaning. \n\n\n\nThough it’s not obvious\, our minds are constantly constructing our realities. Rather than the neutral observers we take ourselves to be\, our minds assess objects with the view of how they might make us happy or how they could cause us pain. As a result\, we flit through the round of suffering as we open ourselves up to intense craving\, hatred\, and a multitude of other counterproductive emotions. This way of looking casts our worldview in an illusion that things exist inherently rather than as they truly do\, in interdependence. \n\n\n\nShantideva Center welcomes meditation teacher Stephan Pende as he leads an in-depth guided reading of this book–which is actually a tightly focused and clear program for meditation. The full series of 24 classes encompasses twelve weekends over the course of the year\, from January to December. Let this course by Stephan Pende serve as a framework for your personal meditation practice to this most beneficial aim: seeing yourself as you really are. \n\n\n\nSchedule:Sat and Sun\, 10:30am–12pm EST/EDT \n\n\n\nNote to participants in Europe:Due to daylight saving time\, the teachings will begin an hour earlier on Sunday.

Radiant Mind arises when unconditioned awareness radiates through the totality of our conditioned existence. \n\n\n\nWhen we live in radiant mind\, we experience ourselves as a unique human being\, while at the same time resting in a unified expanse of centerless and boundless awareness. This state is called liberation\, buddhanature\, egolessness\, pure presence\, nondual wisdom\, our natural condition\, and effortless being. \n\n\n\nWe will only be meeting online\, via Zoom. \n\n\n\nThis is the fourth part of a series\, but you can join even if you were not at the previous teachings. SUMMARY:Beyond Mindfulness Drop-in Meditation
DESCRIPTION:I have been undergoing a transformational period and searching to deepen my practice. Unfortunately\, I must cancel these drop-in sessions. However\, this transitional process will enrich future teachings.  \n\n\n\nFind deeper peace in challenging times\, discover meaning in uncertainty\, and address anxiety by relying on kindness. \n\n\n\nIn this course\, we will challenge ourselves to bring the wisdom of The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva into our own lives and relationships. This series will offer practical tools to awaken bodhichitta in daily life and meditations to deepen our experience of emptiness. \n\n\n\nThe 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva\, one of the most revered texts in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition\, was written by the tenth century Tibetan master Tokme Zongpo. Its inspiring verses convey the entire Mahayana path of compassion. It describes the practices and attitudes of the awakening rebel who wants to heal\, grow up\, and wake up for the benefit of all. \n\n\n\nRelating to traditional Buddhist practices and texts authentically can be difficult for us in the West. The texts are incredibly powerful but come from a different cultural context\, making it difficult to move beyond intellectual understanding and perfunctory repetition toward allowing them to touch our hearts and transform our lives as they are meant to. \n\n\n\nThe teachings are suitable for beginners and experienced students.Former Buddhist monk and psychotherapist Stephan Pende will share from his experience of 30 years practicing in different Buddhist traditions. \n\n\n\nJoin online or in person. Tickets are available for online attendance\, but no need to book if you plan to attend the session in person. \n\n\n\nTime: 7-9pm (CET)Price: 100 DK\, 80 DK for students and unemployedLocation: Nørregade 7A\, 2 sal.
\n\n\n\nSchedule:Sat and Sun\, 10:30am–12pm EST/EDT

SUMMARY:Golden Light of Assisi - A Week of Inner Stillness
DESCRIPTION:“All I need to do is give it all away… give it to the poor.”These were the words of Francis of Assisi as he threw his father’s clothes out the window—an act of radical love and liberation.A rebellion not of anger\, but of tenderness: a turning away from the worship of gold and silver\, and a turning toward birds\, meadows\, humility\, and friendship rooted in God. \n\n\n\nAgain and again\, we’ve felt drawn to Assisi. We’ve walked in his footsteps and listened in silence where he listened. This invitation to a silent retreat in Assisi comes from the deepest cornerstone of our hearts. \n\n\n\n⸻ \n\n\n\n Assisi Silent Retreat \n\n\n\nA journey into simplicity\, presence\, and sacred friendship Space for 10 participants Dates: 13th–20th of September\, 2025 Arrival: Between 16:00–18:00 on September 13 Opening Dinner & Welcome Talk: 19:00 Check-out: 9:00 on the morning of September 20 Contribution: 7000 DKK (includes retreat\, accommodation\, and guidance) Meals and transportation not included Travel tip: Low-cost flights to Rome via Norwegian; from there\, easy train to Assisi Sign-up and payment deadline: July 1st\, write to ngapende@gmail.com and make the payment: https://www.stephanpende.com/donation/ \n\n\n\n⸻ \n\n\n\n Tentative Program \n\n\n\nAssisi breathes devotion. From dawn till night\, monks and nuns chant\, walk\, and offer prayers in a rhythm centuries old.We will attune ourselves to this sacred rhythm. \n\n\n\nMornings begin with a meditative walk at sunrise\, from our retreat home to the tomb of Saint Francis in the heart of the Basilica. The silence here is thick\, like velvet.People sit. Walk slowly. Cry.The air is filled with guitar\, prayer\, and the quiet presence of something far greater than us.It is as if Francis never left. \n\n\n\nAfterwards\, we’ll gather on a peaceful terrace overlooking the rooftops of Assisi—sharing silence and presence as a group.Then\, we return together—slowly\, in silence—to our retreat home. \n\n\n\nThere\, the coolness of a swimming pool and the embrace of stillness await us.We will be marinated in presence through meditation\, walking contemplatively in the garden\, or simply resting in silence. \n\n\n\nAs the day unfolds\, we may return to Assisi’s sacred spaces—like the Eremo delle Carceri\, the forest hermitage where Francis prayed in caves\, immersed in solitude. \n\n\n\nOn some nights\, we’ll share a meal in monastic settings—stone-walled rooms lit by candlelight\, sitting with others on long wooden tables\, savoring simple food in silence. \n\n\n\nEvenings will be spent in gentle community. We’ll gather around the fireplace—sharing stories of Francis\, singing simple songs\, and letting his spirit inspire a little “church of friendship” in our hearts.A rose blooming in the now. \n\n\n\n⸻ \n\n\n\n Is this for you? \n\n\n\nThis is a silent retreat.A time for inner listening. For resting the mind\, softening the heart\, and letting Francis guide us into deeper simplicity. \n\n\n\nFeel into whether this calling is yours. We would love to walk this path with you. \n\n\n\n⸻ \n\n\n\n Extend your journey \n\n\n\nIf you feel called to keep walking in the footsteps of Francis after the retreat\, we can help you with all the details. The pilgrimage through the Rieti Valley—a sacred route of caves\, forests\, and sanctuaries—is the most beautiful walk we’ve ever done.Bathed in the golden light of September\, this four-day pilgrimage is a perfect continuation.A way to let the silence ripen in you\, step by step\, as you walk with Francis through some of the most enchanted places of his life.

SUMMARY:Weekend in Malmö
DESCRIPTION:Be Still and Know Who You Are – Weekend Retreat in Malmö — a grounded taste of Tantra \n\n\n\nWhat if the real gift of a spiritual path isn’t “becoming better”… but discovering a true refuge that can’t be taken away? \n\n\n\nNot a refuge that depends on your mood\, your relationship status\, your nervous system behaving nicely\, or life being kind. But something you can return to right where you are—even when the ground shakes: loss\, change\, heartbreak\, uncertainty. \n\n\n\nThis weekend in Malmö is an invitation into that kind of homecoming. \n\n\n\nIn the Tantric view (in the broad\, non-sectarian sense)\, awakening isn’t somewhere else. The doorway is this life\, this body\, this moment. We learn to recognize what is already here—beneath the stories\, beneath the strategies\, beneath the constant self-improvement project. \n\n\n\nAcross many traditions\, three “doors” appear again and again on the path of awakening. We’ll explore them as lived experience\, not as theory:• Truth — the simple reality of the present moment• Love — warmth\, kindness\, connection• Awareness — the silent wakefulness behind all experience \n\n\n\nIn Buddhism\, you might recognize these as the inner heart of Buddha / Dharma / Sangha. In Sanskrit they echo as sat (truth)\, ananda (bliss/love)\, chit (awareness). \n\n\n\nThis isn’t a weekend of big ideas. It’s practice—simple\, honest\, and doable:• guided sitting meditation (with an emphasis on resting rather than forcing)• simple mindful movements to arrive in the body and soften the mind• inquiry into “Who am I—when I stop performing myself?”• relational warmth in a quiet\, respectful container (Tantric in the sense of inclusive presence\, not performance)• time for integration and silence \n\n\n\nYou’ll be invited to explore how the outer refuges (teachings\, community\, inspiration) can become portals to the inner refuges: living truth\, boundless love\, and pure awareness. \n\n\n\nFor whom: This weekend fits you if you’re longing for something real\, and you’re tired of spiritual entertainment. It’s also for you if you want to reconnect with love — not as romance\, but as warmth\, kindness\, and a sense of belonging in your own life. Beginners are welcome\, and experienced practitioners usually appreciate the simplicity (and the occasional uncomfortable honesty). \n\n\n\nTake-home: Not a “peak experience.” More like a reliable inner orientation—a way back to yourself in ordinary life. A refuge to turn to every day. \n\n\n\nTime:Sat Feb 21 10.00 – 17.00Sun Feb 22 10.00 – 17.00 \n\n\n\nWith an hour lunch break around 13.00.(There is a kitchen with a microwave and refrigerator if you want to bring your own food\, or you can buy nearby) \n\n\n\nCost: 1200 SEK – (contact us if you are struggling financially for a reduced priced)You sign up through payment. It is possible to join only for one day.Payment options: \n\n\n\n\nDonation\n\n\n\n\nPlace:Vitemöllegatan 16C\, SE-214 44 Malmö\, Sverige \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Comfortable clothes. Meditation pillow / yoga mat (if you have). \n\n\n\nAbout the teachers: \n\n\n\nStephan Pende is a meditation teacher with more than four decades of practice and over 20 years of experience guiding retreats across Europe. He was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist monk for 11 years and spent many years in intensive retreat. His teaching is simple\, grounded\, and direct—mixing meditation\, gentle inquiry\, and embodied presence\, with a Tantric appreciation of ordinary life as the path. \n\n\n\nAlexander Walter is a passionate and dedicated practitioner of meditation with over 20 years of experience. He met Stephan about 15 years ago and has been following his guidance ever since. He has explored many different traditions and loves to write spiritual poetry.
